British Aerospace (Weybridge) Golfing Society had been running Annual Reunion Golf Days at West Byfleet Golf Club since 1988 enjoying concessions granted to them by the Club that went back to the end of the war.

After 16 years the organising committee felt it had run its course and that it might be time to wind it up.  At the final golf day in 2003, the 'George Inkpen Memorial Salvers' were presented to the principal organisers, Ken Farmer and Charlie Turner in recognition of their work and dedication over the years.

After discussion amongst the members it was felt that it would be a great shame to end this re-union occasion as it was the only time that most of them got to meet-up. So out of this, with the co-operation of Ken, the Brooklands Golf Society was formed in 2004.

Invitations were sent out to all the members of the previous society and almost all responded positively. West Byfleet Golf Club were unwilling to continue any arrangement with the new Society so the venue was transferred to Sutton Green Golf Club.

This did mean that we were not restricted by numbers or playing format and invitations were opened to any former BAe (Weybridge) employees. The Inaugural Golf Day was held on Wednesday 1st September 2004 with 37 members present. Peter Clements accepted the invitation to be Captain for the first year.

Sadly soon after our first event, Ken Farmer passed away on November 25th 2004. It was thought only fitting that we dedicate a trophy, to be played for annually in his memory and so from 2005 we are playing for ‘The Ken Farmer Memorial Salver’

In November 2009 the other former organiser of the original golf days, Charlie Turner passed away and 'The Charlie Turner Memorial Plate' was dedicated in his memory.
